A VERY important thing to remember about sixth grade is that this is a BENCHMARK GRADE. This means that if your student does not pass sixth grade, they will HAVE to go to summer school. If your student does not pass summer school, they will HAVE to repeat 6th grade. The other benchmark grades are third grade and eighth grade.
It is very important that students keep up their grades every quarter. If a student fails two quarters out of the four quarters in a school year, they will most likely have to repeat sixth grade. Please always remind your students how important this school year is and encourage them to do their best work.
