MAP Chicago Symphony Orchestra

This year our classroom has a wonderful opportunity to participate in a program run by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Through this program, your students will have music infused into other academic areas. We will be attending five concerts at Brentano performed by the Civic Orchestra Ensembles, one performance by a Chicago Symphony Orchestra ensemble, and we will go on a field trip to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra to attend a youth concert at the end of the school year.

I am very excited to be participating in this program! Mrs. Salgado wrote a grant to bid for participation in the program and seven schools were selected, which included Brentano! This is an excellent opportunity for your students and will be a great benefit to their education.

Through this program, your students will receive:

  • Seven co-taught lessons with a Chicago Symphony Orchestra Teaching Artist
  • Five ensemble performances from the Civic Orchestra
  • One ensemble performance from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra
  • One field trip to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for an orchestral performance
  • One full box of musical instruments to use in the classroom
  • Musical workbooks
The goal of this program is to increase your students musical knowledge and aid them in developing a deeper understanding of materials in other academic areas.
